Hues of orange and blue
A simple splash of colour can completely transform the home or office – and when chosen wisely, colour can be a welcome addition to any room.
One of the most prominent colour trends coming out of Milan at present is the use of orange and blue. During the Salone Internazionale del Mobile (Milan International Furniture Fair) held in April, shades of orange and blue filled the Milan Fairgrounds; with striking statement pieces, soft furnishings, and complete furniture settings making use of these colours in all their glory.
Taking place in Milan each year, Salone Internazionale del Mobile was developed as a platform to promote Italian furniture and accessories to the global market. This year, the event attracted 282,483 trade operators from 154 Countries, 32,870 members of the general public and 5967 communications operators.
As 2011 marked the 50th anniversary of the event, many displays alluded to the styles of days gone by, while others adopted a more modern flair. Melbourne based design consultancy firm Nexus Designs was at the event, gaining insight into the latest trends and developments that are making their way out of Italy.
