Cello Liqueurs recognised yet again
Following on from a first place win for its Cello Limoncello at the prestigious International Wine & Spirit Competition (IWSC) in London last year, Cello Liqueurs now has even more reason to celebrate. On 16 August, it was announced that its Cello Sambuca Bianca had finished in second place for the Liqueur – Aniseed category during the 2011 event.
It has been a rollercoaster ride for the Sydney based company, which was started by Domenico Cece in 2010. Cello Liqueur was presented with its IWSC award in July last year, followed soon after by awards at the Beverage Testing Institute’s International Review of Spirits in Chicago in October. Here, the company took home gold medals for its Limoncello, Limecello and Arancello, and silver for its Passioncello.
Being awarded for its Sambuca Bianca further adds to this impressive list of accolades. “Despite being 38 per cent alcohol, Cello Sambuca Bianca has a really ultra smooth taste. It is the same strength as others on the market but goes down well and leaves a really nice aftertaste,” said Domenico, who only began making Sambuca in August last year. “I was hoping to do well at the competition but I didn’t expect to do that well – I’m just ecstatic,” he added.
